Răspunsul: Le cerem locuitorilor oraşului Sydney să închidă toate luminile pentru o oră.

Pe 31 Martie 2007, 2.2 milioane de persoane si 2100 de companii din Sydney au închis luminile pentru o oră, iar puncte de atracţie ale oraşului, precum Harbour Bridge sau clădirea Operei, au rămas în întuneric pe durata evenimentului. Această acţiune colectivă de proporţii a dus la o scădere de 10.2% a consumului de energie din oraşul Sydney şi, totodată, la conştientizarea impactului pe care risipa de energie îl are asupra mediului.

Inspirate de acestă iniţiativă, diferite oraşe ale lumii se alătură mişcării Earth Hour 2008, transformând astfel un eveniment simbolic într-o mişcare globală. Pe data de 29 martie 2008, la ora 20.00, milioane de oameni, locuitori ai unor oraşe ca Bangkok, Copenhaga, Chicago, Melbourne, Brisbane, Telaviv şi Manila, vor închide pentru o oră luminile şi aparatele electrice de care se pot dispensa.

Earth Hour nu se adresează însă doar locuitorilor, instituţiilor şi companiilor din oraşele partenere, ci oricui doreşte să facă acest gest pentru planetă, atât pe 29 martie, cât şi în viaţa de zi cu zi.
