Pe 13 februarie 1974 - se naste in Newcastle-under-Lyme- Robert Peter Maximillion Williams. Mai cunoscut voua drept Robbie Williams. In 1990 intra in una dintre cele mai bune trupe Britanice – Take That – alaturi de care a avut nu mai putin de 8 piese ajunse number one. In 1995 Robbie decide sa paraseasca trupa – pentru a urma o cariera solo. Despartrirea de trupa nu a avut un efect prea bun asupra lui. Devenise un obisnuit al revistelor de scandal din cauza problemelor cu drogurile si alcoolul. Umbla in public imbracat cu haine foarte putine – murdar si nebarbierit – de asemenea se ingrasase cu 18 kilograme. Robbie a incercat sa-l convinga pe Noel Gallagher – component Oasis – sa-i compuna cateva piesa – insa acesta il refuza spunand ca Robbie nu este alt ceva decat “Dansatorul ala gras de la Take That”. La acea vreme – media nu-i acorda mari sanse in a reusi ca artist solo. Pana in 1996 – Robbie Williams – era pregatit sa apara in fata fanilor. Prima piesa a fost lansata in august 1996 – un cover dupa melodia George Michael – “Freedom”. Dupa ce sta o scurta perioada intr-o clinica de reabilitare – el revine cu un al doilea single de pe albumul sau – “Life thru a lens” – era vorba de piesa – “Old befor I die” – din 1997. Ambele piese ajung pana pe locul doi in topul britanic si au fost considerate de succes. Insa al treilea singal “Angels” – lansat in decembrie 1997 – face ca albumul sau sa ajunga pe locul fruntas in top – la 28 de saptamani de la lansarea oficiala. Cu toate acestea – desi piesa este una din marile hituri ale lui Robbie – nu ajunge decat pe locul 4 in Marea Britanie. Acest cantec a fost votat – de catre ascultatorii radio BBC 2 – drept cea mai buna din ultimii 25 de ani. Cu toate ca a avut un succes foarte mare in Marea Britanie si in Europa – Robbie Williams – nu a reusit sa cucereasca piata americana . Piesa “Millennium” – un mare hit in Europa - nu ajunge decat pe locul 72 – in State. In 1998, Robbie lanseaza cel de-al doilea album solo, “I’ve Been Expecting You”, album ce se instaleaza direct pe pozitia fruntasa a clasamentelor, revenind de doua ori pe aceasta pozitie si in 1999. Cu patru single-uri de Top 5, Robbie reuseste sa se impuna fara echivoc ca artist solo, lasandu-i cu mult in urma pe colegii sai cu tentative similare, Gary Barlow si Mark Owen. “The Ego Has Landed”, o compilatie destinata numai pentru piata americana , se lanseaza in primavara lui 1999. “Rock DJ” este primul single de pe cel de-al treilea album semnat Robbie Williams, “Sing When You’re Winning”. Insotita de un videoclip controversat, piesa intra in topuri direct pe pozitia intai. 2002 este anul care ii aduce lui Robbie un contract de invidiat cu EMI (gurile rele vorbesc de 80 de milioane de dolari). Un an mai tarziu, Robbie lanseaza “Escapology”, cel de-al cincilea album din cariera sa si ultimul la care participa activ ca producator si compozitor Guy Chambers, partenerul lui Robbie inca de la debutul sau solo. Materialul va sta la baza celui mai titrat concert din istoria muzicala a Marii Britanii, “Live at Knebworth”, concert ce se va regasi atat pe CD (Live Summer 2003) cat si pe DVD (What We Did Last Summer). Din 19 noiembrie 2005 Robbie detine recordul mondial la numarul de bilete vandute intr-o zi – un million sase sute – depasind recordul precedent detinut de N Sync – cu un million de bilete – din 2000. Pe 23 octombrie 2006 apare albumul cu numarul sapte din cariera lui Robbie – “Rudebox”. Pana in prezent acesta s-a vandut in aproximativ 3 milioane de exemplare – debutand pe locul intai in Marea Britanie. Desi presa a considerat primul single “Rudebox” – drept un esec – piesa a ajuns pe prima pozitie in Germania , Argentina , Mexic, Elvetia si Turcia.
